Holiday homework

Hi All ,

Hopefully you stuck the sheet in your homework book but if you've not here it is again

Reading : remember this can be books, newspapers, magazines, signs and more. Try reading for at least 10 min a day.

Mathletics: try to get onto mathlectics and try the memory games on the blog. You can also practice those times tables if access to a computer is hard.


And if you have time;

Topic : please have a loook at what you can find out about endangered animals, which ones are and potentially the reasons for it. Remember you can write it down however you wish :) All homework on this can go up on the wall.

Week 7 Garden to Table

Thanks again to the teachers and parents who made Garden to Table a really enjoyable time  :)

Diver in a bottle

You will need: modelling clay, paperclip, bottle, pen lid and some water.

Steps :

1.  Make a shape of a modelling clay figure 3.5cm (1.25in) long.  Fix the paper-clip to its head and hang it from the pen top.  Fill the bottle with water and drop in the scuba diver. 2.  The pen top should float with its top just above the water level.  Make the figure bigger or smaller if needed.  Then pour in more water and screw the top on tightly.     What happens to the diver??   What happens when you squeeze the bottle?

Steps:

1. Fill a bowl with water. What happens to the orange?

2. See if you and your family can get the orange to sink.

Balloon in a bottle

Children were baffled

An inflated balloon inside a bottle, how did that happen???

Children had a go at investigating how it was done.

After a few little tips the children started to have  some success :)

Exploring snails

On the hunt for food for Garden to Table today we discovered some snails living on the plants. We dicussed why they were there and what some of the problems they would cause if we left them there.

To save the plants from being eaten we removed them using our hands and took them back to the class to explore them further.

 Charlotte takes a really close look :)

After exploring the snails and thinking about them using I think, I see, I wonder we reused the sniails by feeding them to the hens.

In room 35 this morning we got into partners to solve some problems that involved searching for a pattern.

We completed one as a class first.

DNA is little parts in your body that is in each bubble that floats around in your body. You look like your parents and your siblings because they are sharing your DNA. Each DNA tell your life. For a example, if you are smart, you might have a DNA that makes you smart. Dna is so tiny that you can't even see it! If you don't have any DNA, you won't be alive. DNA is a very important part of your body. Ichigo




DNA contains all the infomation needed to build your body. Every cell in our body contains DNA. It stands for Deoxyribonucleic Acid. Did you know you have around 20,000 DNA genes in your body?
